The ONE Campaign: Support the Jubilee Act and Global Child Survival Act

It takes five seconds.

Help developing countries receive debt relief so they can fight poverty in their nation.

Reverend David Duncombe is fasting for 40 days to support the Jubilee Act. You can help. Send a letter to Congress on the ONE Campaign web site.

Now, can you take three more seconds to save a child?

1 child under the age of 5 dies every three seconds
(Global Child Survival Act fact sheet).

The Global Child Survival Act will provide vaccinations, medicine, and vitamins to save these children, according to the ONE campaign web site in the link above.

Your senators and representative need to hear about your support, or the bill might not pass and more children will suffer. Share your opinion with your senators and representative to rescue kids.

Your voice makes a difference.

Stopping Joseph Kony in Uganda: These Kids Need Your Voice

Justice is at stake in Uganda.

30,000 children have been captured--either mercilessly killed to teach others a lesson, or brainwashed and brutalized into child soldiers. Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army, is responsible for these tragedies.

Please check out this article on the Enough Project web site, and then call Congress or the White House to speak up for the Ugandan people who suffer in silence. You can reach your senator's phone number at senate.gov (click senators, and then find your state). Explain to your senator that everything America represents--life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness--is being violated in Uganda by the Lord's Resistance Army, and then ask them what America will do about it.

If you haven't yet seen the Invisible Children movie, I would suggest heading over the invisiblechildren.com right now and buying the DVD. This movie has changed countless lives, including mine, and I hope it will transform the way you see the world too.

Additional phone numbers are available on the Enough Project web site.

Our Generation: The Power of Your Knowledge

Next time you talk to your friends, consider bringing up one of these stunning facts about poverty--you might just change their world.

Out of the world's 2.2 billion children, 1 billion (nearly half) live in poverty (www.youthagainstpoverty.com).

Five million people die every year from water-borne diseases (www.youthagainstpoverty.com).

30,000 kids die every day because of poverty (www.youthagainstpoverty.com). That's one every 3 seconds.

1 out of every 5 kids in the United States lives in poverty
(www.youthaginstpoverty.org).

When you give a speech, write an essay, or write an article for your school newspaper, consider talking/writing about poverty to spread awareness about the severity of the situation and the various ways teens can help.

To find ways you can help, explore the recommended organizations on our MySpace Page and read our weekly blog.
